Walking Puppets

Materials

scissors

artist’s drawing

white glue

stiff paper or cardboard

Art Process

1. Cut out a drawing and glue it to a piece of stiff

paper or cardboard.

2. Cut two holes about 1⁄4” (6 mm) apart at the base of

the drawing. Cut each hole large enough to allow a finger poke through.

3. Put two fingers through the holes in the puppet. Your fingers will become the legs of the puppet.

Variations

• Put one puppet on each hand and put on a show or tell a story.

• Combine puppets with several artists and present a show with several characters.

Hints

• Use old file folders for stiff paper.

• Any drawing can be a puppet. The puppet does not have to be an animal or a person; even a design can be puppet.
